We are off school for 2 weeks. Why stay home lol? So we decided to take one of those weeks and go to Fiji. Wow.
Our first day here we kinda chilled out since we brought a red eye in. Lazy day by the pool. Fine by me!!!
Day two also known as Easter Sunday found us on a sail boat to a private island. It was amazing. We spent the day playing in the ocean and snorkeling. The kids got to try out the new underwater camera the Easter Bunny brought our family.
Monday we lounged some more. I see the true meaning behind 'Fijian time' it it HOT and humid. Everything moves slowly so they don't die from heat exhaustion! Sadly Lauren woke up extremely ill and spent the day sleeping. Dad stayed with her and Maya and I got to visit a village and take a jet boat ride. We learned all about the Fijians and some of their traditions. It was so cool. To a westerner such as myself I saw the things they didn't have--like electricity. But to them? They have a sense of community I can only dream of. They had nothing yet they shared their lunch with us. In the spirit of religion since it is Easter let me just say that is my definition of 'good Christian people'
Wednesday found us hoping in a truck and finding another village. This one was a little better off as they get donations from tourists. We then hiked up to a waterfall. It was amazing. We had paid the guides for a 'full day' and we weren't quite sure when that time was up. So we asked and they said -you paid for the whole day you tell us! Ok then. We swam for a bit more but didn't want to take advantage and had them bring us back. Someday if you hear Maya has run off to Fiji and isn't coming back don't be surprised. She loved it here and as a bonus shoes are totally optional. She hiked back thru the woods caring her shoes. When we argued she kindly pointed out our guide also was not wearing any shoes. ❤️ her
