Catching up..... again

While I love to write and or talk taking the time to update this has been difficult.

I left you at Thanksgiving...

In December the girls finished up school so once again we were off.  Chris had wanted to see Tasmania.  We took a boat there and back.  We spent the night on the boat on the way down.  The girls thought it was fun.  We all slept in bunk beds! The 4:45 AM wake up call wasn't so awesome though!

We drove down to Cradle Mountain.  It is one of the national parks here.  It was a breathtaking site!  We had a chance to do some walking around the lake there and a few other nature walks.  Lauren was lucky enough to have a wombat actually walk right up to her feet and sniff.

From there we headed to Cole's Bay/wine glass bay.  We had hoped to take a cruise in the bay as you can not just walk on the beach but the only day we had available to us the boat was not running due to cooler weather.  Here we got to go Kayaking.  First time for the whole family.  We had so much fun.  Sherri was paired up with Lauren and found out Lauren is quite the task master.  Lauren loved trying to keep their kayak out of the rocks!  Chris and Maya were paired up and Maya decided to let dad do all the rowing while she floated along.

Then it was off to Hobart.  We used this as our jumping off point for Port Arthur.  We took a bus for the day down to Port Arthur to see the infamous prison that Australia was founded on.  Wow.  These convicts were just dropped off on this beautiful island but they had no shelter or....well anything.  Anything they needed they needed to figure out how to build it.  It was very amazing.

We were in town for the famous Saturday market in Hobart.  While not really my thing we did walk around and even found some salt and pepper shakers made of Tassie wood to bring home.
