Its been a busy few months and about to get busier.
The holiday season was just as busy here as at home!! Of course I am not sure it helped we fit a trip in to Darwin/Kakadu but ya know we had to see everything we could! When you hear the Australian outback is deserted please take note. I thought oh there has to be somewhere to eat out there and didn't worry about packing food. Not one of my better ideas! It was also insanely hot but we got out and did some hiking and some site seeing. Australia sure is a beautiful country no matter where you go.
Thanksgiving its always a challenge here. Small oven, finding supplies, etc. This year was no different except I chose to do two dinners. One for the family and one for friends although poor Chris was traveling. Seems to be an ongoing theme.
Then Chris finally had a chance to take his fathers day trip to Tassie to bike ride.
We were blessed with friends coming to visit for a long weekend. Sadly they only saw 1/2 of us as Chris and Maya were off on a father daughter camping trip. Lauren and I were planning on spending the night in one of the lovely hotels in the city but had company. I taught her about hotel hopping and how it was perfectly fine to walk into a lobby to see their decorations. We had a great time hanging out together. We even finally got our nice dinner in the city!
Then friends of ours that are on assignment in China right now came out for a week. We took the kids for a surf lesson on the beach. Although they both said they were glad to try it they did say how hard it was trying to manage a surf board with the waves crashing against you.
Christmas was quiet this year. We have now reached the stage where the kids only want crazy $$ things so the tree looks bare to me. We went to the beach and had a lovely evening. We were also preparing for more guests
We figure this was the year for our guests as they have come to see 'oh my they have been gone for a while and it is almost time for them to be back" and everyone came at once!
Our final company for the year were Chris's parents. They helped ring in 2018. They were here for 2 weeks and we had a lovely visit. We took them to the usual sites including Sydney.
February saw the start of school again. Lauren year 9 and Maya year 7 Lauren is off for an 8 week school trip to Thailand. Maya is settling into what is considered high school here. Maya also chose to skydive for her birthday this year!
We are now starting to think about repatriation and it is an odd feeling. All the feelings we had about moving here are back but in reverse. So strange
