Touching base

Not much is new here. We came back from vacation and the family went back to work and school. :)

Lauren went to the Melbourne Zoo. Maya went to a recycling center. She came home and told me all the things we shouldn't be buying that were in my pantry and why. I smiled but she saw right thru it and said you're gonna buy it anyway aren't you mom?  That one sentence took me back 30 years and to a similar conversation I had with my mom. (Sigh)

Lauren has to take a sport and has settled on swimming for summer.  She is really gonna be fit when we go home. It's no joke!  They work them hard. I feel bad for her.  She loves ballet and I wish they would count it but no go.

Maya is getting ready to go camping at a zoo. This kid is so lucky! Chris and I both said we wish we could have had that opportunity when we were in school.

We are about 5 weeks from thanksgiving. I am trying to keep as busy as possible. The thought of the holidays coming makes me sad.  We have discussed the possibility of inviting our new friends to share in our traditions. Still trying to see if I can round up all the stuff for a traditional dinner.

  1. Amazing adventures your girls are having! I bet Lauren will love swimming as much as she loves ballet. I remember when I moved away from my family and how hard it was. I threw myself into cooking and baking but now realize that was a mistake, but with daughters you could include them. You do whatever works for you because the mother sets the tone for the household - think of it as making new traditions
